Wilfred Baker

BERLIN, N.H. — Wilfred Baker, 92, of Berlin, N.H., formerly of Lincoln Plantation, died Monday, May 7, 2012 at Androscoggin Valley Hospital.

He was born in Newry on Dec. 4, 1919, the son of Joseph and Florida Provenchy Baker. He faithfully served in the U.S. Army. He married Margaret Bennett, Aug. 17, 1940.

He had been employed as a logger and at Bennett’s Garage. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 17, the Shriner’s, the American Legion, the Grange in Wilsons Mills and the VFW.

He is survived by a son, Donald of Berlin, N.H.; a grandson; a great-grandson; and a sister, Dora Gardner of Waterford.

He was predeceased by his wife in November 2011.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Bethel. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Greenleaf Chapel, 37 Vernon Street, Bethel.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
