Wayne C. Bailey

Wayne C. Bailey, 63, of Hope Valley, R.I., Bridgton, Maine and Naples Fla., passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 15, 2010, at Central Maine Medical Center. He was the devoted and loving husband of Elizabeth L. (Godbout) Bailey of 44 years and the proud father of three daughters, Kimberly Bailey, Tracy DeSantis and Karen Heroux.

He was born in Bath, Maine, to the late Harold Bailey and Josephine (Allen) Bailey.

Wayne was employed by Electric Boat, Groton, for 36 years before retiring in 2002.

In addition to his wife and daughters, Wayne is survived by his sons-in-law, Salvatore DeSantis Jr. and David Heroux; seven grandchildren, whom he adored, Cheltia, Carissa and little Sal DeSantis, Colton and Dylan Main and David and Lucas Heroux; his sister, Jane Harvey; and nephew, Senior Airman Jacob Harvey and several nieces and nephews.

Wayne was an Olympic weightlifter for the past 50 years, enjoyed fishing, old cars, playing pool and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post 156 in Naples, Maine, was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed playing horseshoes. Wayne was also known as "Hot Papa" to all his granddaughters' girlfriends.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Bridgton,  at 11:00 a.m.  Reception following at the Naples American Legion Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wayne C. Bailey Benefit Fund, c/o Tracy DeSantis, 65 Blue Pond Trail, Hope Valley, RI 02832, which has been established at the Westerly Community Credit Union.

To say he will be deeply missed would be an under statement to all who knew him.
