BRIDGTON — Vivian G. (Witham) Hathaway, 72, of Naples, died on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Bridgton Hospital. She was the wife of James C. Hathaway.

Vivian was born in Tacoma Park, Md., on Aug. 4, 1942, a daughter of the late George H. Witham and Gertrude V. (Bouchard) Witham. She attended schools in Winslow and graduated from Castine High School. Following high school she attended Thomas College.

She spent time working for the Maine Maritime Academy, the Internal Revenue Service, and United Maine Craftsmen. Vivian also owned and operated her own business, Lampshades Etc.

She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past Worthy Matron. Vivian also enjoyed quilting and sewing groups, as well as stamping and card-making groups. She also volunteered at the Naples Library. Vivian was well-known for hosting Christmas and tea parties at her home.

Besides her mother and husband, she is survived by her three children, Jennifer Huber and her husband Frederick, J. David Hathaway and his wife Laura and Elizabeth Urquhart. She also leaves four grandchildren, Lanayria Urquhart, Victoria Pickreign and her husband Joshua, Alexandria Huber, and Fred Huber and his wife Cristina as well as three great-grandchildren, Jackson Psonak, Liam and Ria Pickreign, her sister Marian Witham and her uncle James Witham Jr.

There will be an Eastern Star Ceremony on Oct. 5, 2014, at 2 p.m., at the Bridgton Masonic Lodge. Relatives and friends are invited to attend this ceremony. There will also be a celebration of her life at the family home at a later date.
