Sophia Frost

LOVELL — Sophia May Frost, of Lovell, age 3, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Aug. 18, 2014.

She was born on July 25, 2011, in Bridgton. She is the daughter of Shirley May Thunder Horse and Kenneth Rodney Frost III.

Sophia is survived by her siblings, Stacy K.L. Thunder Horse, Shirkeyshaw M. Winters, Kathryn M.A. Frost, and Sarah M.C. Frost; and grandparents Ladene Winters of Wanblee, S.D., Gilbert Thunder Horse Sr. of Wounded Knee, S.D., and Holly and Kenneth Frost Jr. of Fryeburg; and she also leaves behind her cats, Tiny and Lucky. Sophia has many caring relatives, including the Oglala Lakota Sioux tribe, who would have loved to see her grow up.

Sophia was part of the Fryeburg Head Start program and was looking forward to entering Early Head Start in the fall. She was a happy, energetic, intelligent child who loved life to the fullest. Everyone who came to know her noticed she always had a smile on her face. Sophia encouraged others to be happy and to love one another because “we are family.” She enjoyed swimming at the beach and going for walks with her family; she loved being outside.

A 24-hour vigil was held at the Fryeburg New Church, at 12 Oxford Street, Fryeburg, on Wednesday, Aug. 27, starting at 10 a.m. Visiting hours were held on that Wednesday evening. The service for Sophia will be held on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m., at the Fryeburg New Church, with a graveside service to follow at Forest Hills Annex Cemetery in Bridgton, with Rev. Ken Turley and Rev. Alison Lane-Olsen officiating. A reception will follow at the Fryeburg New Church.
