Shirley F. Moore

PORTLAND — Shirley F. (Davis) Moore, 76, of Portland, died on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at Maine Medical Center, after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Eugene E. Moore. who died on Oct. 1, 2009.
She was born in Portland on Sept. 8, 1934, the daughter of the late Arthur and Louise (Kruger) Davis. She attended local area schools, graduating from the former Cathedral High School as a member of the class of 1952.
After graduating, Shirley married Eugene Moore and remained married for almost 50 years. Shirley worked as a legal secretary, most notably for attorney Franklin Stearns. Shirley and her husband bought a camp on Crescent Lake, a place the family has enjoyed for the past 40 years. Shirley and her husband loved to travel, visiting such places as Caracas, Venezuela, Las Vegas and Florida.
Her profession of faith was in the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone. Shirley showed exceptional kindness to the homeless and orphans, and everyone, almost without exception, loved her. She had many friends at her daily hangout, Tony’s Donuts.
She was predeceased by her son, Michael E. Moore; and her brother, William Davis. She is survived by her son, David R. Moore of Portland, as well as her three grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 981 Forest Ave., Portland. A graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at 11 a.m., at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St., Portland, with Pastor Michael Kee officiating.
