DENMARK — Ruth Parker Linnell, 87, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, died peacefully Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, surrounded by the love of her family at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

Ruth was born in Caribou on Nov. 11, 1928, the youngest child and only daughter of Roy D. Parker and Etta Collins Parker. She spent her childhood on their potato farm in Aroostook County, graduated from Caribou High School in 1946, and married Robert W. Linnell June 28, 1948. In 1972 Ruth and her family moved to Denmark, to the farm of Bob’s grandmother. She was the loving caretaker of her mother for 15 years. After Bob retired, she and Bob spent winters in Florida, driving south for 15 years. Ruth was an active member of the Denmark Congregational Church and held several positions in the Eastern Star Mt. Moriah #6.

She is survived by daughters Ann and Jane; and son David. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her, included members of her extended family. Ruth was predeceased seven weeks ago by Robert, her husband of 68 years. Also by brothers Philip and Max, and many nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law. Ruth was very proud of being a homemaker, wife, grandmother and mother.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral at the Gray Congregational Church on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 at 1 p.m. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Michael Chapman of A.T. Hutchins, Hospice of Southern Maine, and Lora Larrivee for their care and support.
