Ruth A. Pratt

Ruth Ann Whitney Pratt, 69, of Bridgton and Holiday, Fla., passed away after an on-going battle with complications with rheumatoid arthritis.

She was the first child of Eva Ames and Stanley F. Whitney, born on March 11, 1941. A 1959 graduate of Bridgton High School, she graduated with honors from Saint Joseph’s College, where she majored in French. In 1963, she took a teaching position at Casco High School, moving to Lake Region High School when the consolidation took place in 1969. She retired from teaching in 1991.

She loved to boat and in 2000 she and Rocky traveled the Intercoastal Waterway from Maine to the west coast of Florida. There they purchased a house lot and built her dream home in Holiday, Fla. She loved traveling, great cuisine, cross-stitching, word games, and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving are her husband, Albert “Rocky” Pratt of Bridgton and Holiday, Fla.; her sister, Etta May Bates of Bridgton and Bonita Springs, Fla.; her brother, Kenneth Whitney of Denmark; five nephews, one niece; and several grandnieces and nephews.
