Rotary Citizen of the Month: Alice Sanborn

Lake Region High School senior Alice Sanborn of Naples has been selected as the Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club’s “Good Citizen of the Month” for February.

Each month, the Rotary Club recognizes a Lake Region High School student who displays good citizenship and contributes to the school community. The recipient is honored at a Rotary breakfast meeting and is presented a savings bond.

Sibling: Garredd Sanborn

Activities: Varsity field hockey and tennis

Community activities: Helping out at Harvest Hills, also sending care packages to soldiers serving overseas.

Hobbies: Snowboarding, hunting and fishing.

Future plans: Go to nursing school.

What is your favorite class? AS. Science, always learning new interesting things.

What is your toughest class? AS. English, I don’t find much interest in the subject matter.

How do you balance your class work and your extracurricular activities? AS. I do all my class work the day I get it. So, I never fall behind and I still have time for extracurricular activities.

What is the biggest challenge high school students face today? AS. Balancing schoolwork, or even caring about schoolwork.

Who has inspired you educationally? AS. Mrs. Mayo. She is always was available for extra help, and is easy to talk to. She also has inspired me to push myself because she knows I can go far with what I do.
