The Molly Ockett Chapter, NSDAR, honored four outstanding area seniors as recipients of the DAR Good Citizen Award on Saturday, March 9, at the Bridgton Community Center.

The DAR Good Citizen program and scholarship contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. These qualities are service, dependability, leadership, and patriotism. The program is open to all senior class students enrolled in accredited public or private schools.

The local DAR Good Citizens Award recipients for 2024 are: Lily M. Bedard of Mountain Valley High School (not pictured); Ethan St. Pierre of Fryeburg Academy, Susie M. Butler of Lake Region High School and Makenzie J. Eliot of Telstar High School. Congratulations to each of these remarkable students!

The Molly Ockett Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded in Fryeburg in 1976 and reorganized in Bridgton in 2020. NSDAR is a volunteer women’s service organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., which is dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. Through its various programs and initiatives, NSDAR strives to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the women and men who achieved American independence, including those of diverse backgrounds.
