SOUTH PORTLAND – Rosina A. “Gig” Wilmot, 94, formerly of Betsy Ross House, died on Monday, June 19, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

She was born in Liverpool, England, the daughter of William and Rosina Bennett. She was educated in England. In 1943, she married the love of her life, George R. Wilmot in Liverpool, England, and began her family. Following the war, Gig worked for 35 years as a food service supervisor at Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1985.

She enjoyed making candy, crafts, sewing for the family and sports.

She was predeceased by her parents; beloved husband of 67 years, George R. Wilmot; brothers, Bill and John; sisters, Edith and Rose; and a grandson.

Gig is survived by her son, George R. J. Wilmot of Casco; daughter, Donna-Rae Arkalis of Massachusetts; brother, Richard Bennett of Colorado; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service for the family will be held at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully-Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
