Richard Boody, 84

LEWISTON — Richard Boody, 84, of Bridgton, passed away on Monday, Monday, Aug. 13, 2018 at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in New York City on April 5, 1934, the son of Paul and Margaret Joyce Boody. He joined the Air Force when he was 17 years old, serving two tours in Korea. He received injuries and spent a year at Walter Reed Medical Center, retiring from the Air Force on April 30, 1957.

He attended Collegete Business Institute in Kirksville, Missouri. He worked at Sinclair Oil Company, where he met his wife in 1959. They were married in 1961. He left Sinclair Oil to work at Con Edison as a budget director. He attended Saint Frances University and Hofstra University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. They moved to Maine, where he worked for the defense department as an auditor, where he traveled throughout the country. He then attended Husson University and received his Master’s degree.

On Oct. 8, 1985, he flew to Washington, D.C., to receive the Handicapped Employee of the Year Award. On Nov. 1, 2010, he received an award from the president of the Republic of Korea, thanking him in protecting their liberty and freedom.

He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Maryanne Cianciminio Boody; two sons, Brian Boody and Todd Boody; two grandsons, Brandon Boody and Trevor Boody; and a brother, Thomas Boody of New York City.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, at 3 p.m. at the Bridgton Alliance Church, followed by interment at Forest Hills Annex Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
