Richard Norden

DENMARK — Richard A. Norden, 68, of Denmark, passed away at the Hospice House in Auburn on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017.

He was born in Portland on Jan., 2, 1949, the son of the late Henry Norden and Elizabeth (Barney) Norden, along with his siblings Philip, Suzanne, and Imelda.

Richard graduated from Portland High School in 1968. He began working for the Portland Water District, Brown Chrysler Motors, Ron’s Vette Center, and was also the New England Sales Rep for Franco Belge Coal and Oil Stoves imported from France. He owned and operated The Village Stove Shoppe in Yarmouth, and he worked for Custom Coach and Limousine as a chauffeur. He also worked for SMCC in the Maintenance Department and started Uncle Henry’s Barn in Denmark, which sold antiques and collectibles.

He was a member of the Pine Tree Rod and Gun Club and the Mount Washington Valley Old Car Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, auctions, snowmobiling, motorcycling and collected vintage metal toys and cars. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Richard is survived by his wife, Nanette (Tasker) Norden of Denmark; son, Peter Norden and his wife Arlene of Standish; two grandchildren, David Entrich of Biddeford and Alisha Norden of Boston; great-grandchild, Evielynn Francis of Biddeford; along with nieces, nephews, and his buddy and riding companion, Tucker (his mini German Schnauzer).

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 21, at A.T. Hutchins, with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
