Raymond DiNitto

PORTLAND — Raymond DiNitto, 73, of Portland and Rochester, N.Y., passed away on Jan. 30, 2011, in Scarborough.

He was born in Rochester, the son of Dominick and Antoinette (Bonanno) DiNitto. Ray served in the U.S. Army. His earlier profession in life was a dance instructor and later became a computer operator. In May of 1989, he left Rochester for a computer operator position at Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he retired in 1995.

Ray spent his last day at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, where for the first time in 15 years, he was very comfortable and free of pain with his wife by his side, holding his hand.

Ray is survived by his mother; his wife, Jean E. McKenney-DiNitto of Portland; brother, Vincent DiNitto of Cooper City, Fla.; sister, Frances Cohen of Rochester, N.Y.; three daughters, Debra, Karen and Christine; step-daughter, Jean Kelley of Sweden; grandchildren; aunts, uncles; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 26, 2011, at East Baptist Church, 64 Reeves Street, Henrietta, N.Y. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sanford.
