Patricia Woodman

WINDHAM — Patricia Mae Woodman, 72, passed away unexpectedly while vacation in Sydney, Nova Scotia, on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017.

She was born on Dec. 24, 1944, the daughter of Ernestine (Bass) Gagne.

Patty grew up in Portland and attended Portland schools. In 1976, she met Richard Caufield. The two spent over 41 loving years together, and shared two poodles, Daisy and Gabbie, whom Patty loved dearly.

Later in life, she worked for many years at Maine Medical Center, until her retirement a few years ago. Patty also took on the role of vice president of her daughter’s business, Maine Rebar Services, Inc., which she was extremely proud of. Together with her daughter, she enjoyed attending classes and seminars for Women in Construction.

Patty was a loving, caring woman who touched many lives, from family to strangers. She loved to travel, go camping, play bingo, and cook, especially baked ziti and coleslaw for her family.

She will be missed by all of those who knew her, including her “bestie” friend of over 30 years, Debbie Simpson of Portland.

Patty is survived by her longtime companion, Richard L. Caufield; four children, Kenneth W. Woodman of Portland, Ernestine M. Woodbury of Windham, James L. Woodman of Sarasota, Fla. and Benjamin A. Woodman of Raymond; her adopted daughter, Dolores L. Sans of Portland; her cherished sister, whom she would do anything for, Linda Bass; her nephew; her 13 grandchildren; and many cousins; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, Patty was predeceased by her granddaughter.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at the Dolby, Blais & Segee Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. A period of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A private burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland at a later date.
