Patricia A. McHatton

Patricia McHatton

Patricia (Pat) Ann McHatton, 79, passed away in her home Wednesday, March 13, 2024, surrounded by family. Special appreciation to the Androscoggin Home Health + Hospice staff.

Pat was born June 22, 1944, in Somerville, Mass. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Florence (Jo) McComiskey. Growing up in Woburn, Mass., with siblings Mary, Robert, Joseph, James and Peter, Pat enjoyed family summer trips to Cape Breton Island. She graduated from Woburn High School in 1962.

Pat met her loving husband, Robert, at Zayre’s Department Store in Woburn and they were married on October 21, 1962. They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. Pat and Bob moved to Bridgton in August 1969 where they raised three children, Dor, Bob and Kim. Pat was a devoted homemaker who also enjoyed working outside the home after her children started attending school. She worked as a dental assistant for 25 years for Dr. Theron Hatch. After retiring from the dental field, she continued working for McHatton’s Cleaning Service, and then for LEA boat inspection.

In addition to being a loving wife, daughter, mother and grandmother, Pat was very active in the community. She had a lifelong commitment to community service including volunteering as a Boy Scout den mother, 4-H leader, AFS Host Family, Rufus Porter Museum docent, and Bridgton Lion Club member, including serving as their first female King Lion. Pat was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bridgton. During her many years of service in the church, she served in various roles including CCD teacher, lector, sacristan, Eucharistic minister, Holly Roller, and Women’s Guild member including a term as president. Anyone who worked with Pat on a project quickly learned she was the driving force behind the scenes keeping the whole show running smoothly.

In her spare time, Pat enjoyed reading, art, and playing the piano. “Meme” will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends for her love of bubbles and silly magic tricks. Although she was not as passionately devoted to animals and farm life as the rest of the family, she loved supporting Bob and the kids in their interests even when it included goats in the back seat of the car, a lost cow (“Ramblin Sam”), or 100 baby chicks in the kitchen.

Pat is survived by her husband, Robert J. McHatton Sr.; children Doreen Marie Day (Daniel) of Bridgton, Robert James McHatton Jr. (Deb) of Bridgton, and Kimberly Ann Lambert (David) of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren Samuel, Michael, Mackenzie, Greg, Megan, Will and Rachel, and great- grandchildren Baylee and Lukas; siblings Robert McComiskey, Joseph McComiskey and sister-in-law Judy Houser.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Florence McComiskey, and siblings Mary Amico, James McComiskey, and Peter McComiskey.

There will be a funeral Mass Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bridgton followed by an open house at the McHatton residence at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kim’sHope. org, a non-profit organization raising funds for families facing a diagnosis of Glioblastoma. The McHatton family would like to thank Kim’s Hope for their support.

Arrangements are in the care of the Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road in Casco. Condolences and tributes may be shared at www.hallfuneralhome.net.
