Neil R. Jordan Sr.

FORT FAIRFIELD — Neil Robert Jordan Sr., 81, died on Tuesday evening, Nov. 16, 2010, at the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle, after a brief illness.

He was the husband of Virginia Cranston (Everitt) Jordan.

He was born on Aug. 22, 1929, in Swampscott, Mass., the son of the late Benjamin Pitman Jordan Sr. and Oma Berdina (Patton) Jordan. He attended Lynn, Mass. public schools and graduated from the Peabody, Mass. school system.

Mr. Jordan resided in South Hamilton, Mass. for many years before moving to Brooksville, Fla., Naples, and settling in Fort Fairfield. He had been employed for many years as a foreman with the United Shoe Machinery Corp. and worked at Douglass Appliance Center in Danvers, Mass., and Gray’s Appliance in Melrose, Mass. For many years, Mr. Jordan ran his own appliance repair business on the North Shore and in Naples known as Mayday Appliance.

He was a member of the Limestone Methodist Church, member and past Worshipful Master of Limestone Lodge, #214, AF&AM in Limestone, and past member of Aleppo Temple Shrine. Mr. Jordan served in the Army National Guard and retired after 17 years of service with the rank of captain.

In addition to his wife of Presque Isle, he is survived by his sons, Neil R. Jordan Jr. of South Portland and Attorney Dana P. Jordan of Gloucester, Mass. and West Palm Beach, Fla.; and stepchildren, Cheryl Miller of Bedford, Mass., Robert Everitt of Clinton, Mass., David Everitt of Burlington, Mass., Charee Stanton of Melrose, Mass., Karen Galiante of Stoneham, Mass., and Steven Everitt of Merrimack, N.H.

He was predeceased by his son, GYSGT Craig S. Jordan of Atlanta, Ga.

Private services will take place in Massachusetts at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
