BRIDGTON — Margaret A. Pelton, 97, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at the Bridgton Health Care Center.

She was born Jan. 10, 1918, in Elmira, New York, the daughter of Clarence and Lucy Enos.

After graduating from high school she went to San Diego and married Homer M. Pelton, who was in the Navy. Margaret retired from the Veterans Canteen Service in 1979. She came to Maine in 2000, made many friends, and always said how much she loved Bridgton.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1966; a sister; a daughter Sheila Schimmel; and a grandson Edward Schimmel in 2014. She is survived by her son Jack, wife Karen; grandson Jack and wife Donna; grandson Michael Schimmel, wife Alicia and great-granddaughter Annabeth; granddaughter Peggy Schimmel and great-granddaughter Kaia; and lots of nieces and nephews.

Margaret will be buried at the National Cemetery on Long Island, New York in the spring.
