WATERFORD — Linda Richards, 83, died Friday, March 6, 2020, at her son’s home with her family by her side.

She was born May 8, 1936, in Norway, the daughter of Vincent and Thurley (Tucker) Ashton. 

She worked as a school teacher in Maine and Massachusetts. After returning to Maine, she helped operate the VH Ashton Appliance Store. She was sharp-minded and enjoyed keeping the shop’s books.

Linda was known for her love of attending yard sales and finding the best deals at thrift shops.

She is survived by her son, Mark Murphy; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Poulin; several nieces and nephews.

Linda was predeceased by her first husband, Dwayne Murphy; her second husband, Bruce Richards; a brother, John Ashton; and a sister, Susan York.

A graveside service will be held later in the spring at the Riverside Annex Cemetery, South Paris.

Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 45 Main Street, South Paris.
