Leonard L. Hatch, 85

FRYEBURG — Leonard L. Hatch, 85, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015.

He was born and raised in Fryeburg. In his younger years, he worked with his dad, Frank Hatch, in the logging business and his uncle Bill Harden’s blacksmith shop. He also helped local farmers and the town with sanding roads in the winter.

He was a longtime employee of Forest Industries, taking early retirement in 1991 to care for his wife Rita. They were married from Jan. 16, 1954, until Rita lost her battle to cancer. Leonard was always ready to help people and his family. He enjoyed woodworking and his designs of covered bridges and the making of cabin lamps and toys for his children.

Leonard was predeceased by his loving wife, Rita; grandson Chet; and his son Bernard. He is loved dearly and will be missed by all of his children, Christine Wallace and her husband Allen, Darlene Locke and her companion George, Steven Hatch and his fiancée Diane, Brenda Warren, Michael Hatch; Leonard’s longtime companion, Joyce Bean; Walter Bean and his wife Crystal; several grandchildren; and numerous friends.

At Leonard’s request there will be a graveside service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Fryeburg in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fryeburg Rescue, P.O. Box 177, Fryeburg, ME 04037.
