BRIDGTON — Lee Andrew Whitehouse, 81, passed away peacefully at his home in North Bridgton on Saturday, April 4, 2015, after a long illness.

Lee was born on Jan. 28, 1934, the son of Lincoln Elden and Velma (Barker) Whitehouse, at Overlook Farm on the Upper Ridge. He attended local schools and graduated from Bridgton Academy in 1954. The following year, he enrolled in the Army. While stationed in Olney, MD., he married Diana Beverly Bowley, his wife for the next 59 years.

Upon his discharge, he returned to Maine and worked in various jobs before becoming a bus driver for the Greater Portland Transit District for 36 years. He also owned and operated a Shell gas station and 302 Rabbitry in Bridgton. He belonged to the Western Maine Rabbit Breeders Association and was the superintendent of the rabbit barn at Fryeburg Fair for 25 years. Lee joined the Oriental Masonic Lodge No. 13 in 1965 and remained a member of the Blue Lodge. He was also a member of the Bridgton Advent Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and regular trips to Eustis with friends and family.

Lee is survived by his wife; two sons, Randy and Rex and their wives, Joyce and Marie; three foster daughters; a grandson, Andrew; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Elden and Charlie; sisters Bonnie, Beverly, Joyce, Shirley and Carol; as well as a daughter, Diana Lee.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery in Bridgton at a later date.
