Judith A. Francis

PORTLAND — Judith Anne (Miller) Francis, 73, of Chelmsford, formerly of Portland and Auburn, Washington, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Lowell General Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Everett Francis.

Born in Portland on March 31, 1938, the daughter of the late George and the late Ruth (Wands) Miller, she attended Portland schools and Deering High School in Portland.

Prior to her retirement, she was a sales clerk with K-Mart stores.

A resident of Meadow Lodge in Chelmsford for many years, Judith loved to visit with other residents whom she considered her extended family and touched many lives in her time there. She had an especially close relationship with her roommate Pat Van Dinter, who was like a sister to her.

She was also an avid collector of all kinds of teddy bears.

Active with the veteran’s organization, AmVets, she also was a member of the Daughters of Rebecca.

Judith is survived by her daughter Linda A. Tenney of Lowell; a son, John M. Tenney of Minnesota; two grandchildren; three sisters, Sally West of Columbia, S.C., Joan Jensen of Falmouth and Virginia Mushrow of Bridgton; two brothers, William L. Miller of Woodland Park, Colo. and David L. Miller of Windham; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Miller; and sisters, Marcia Lovejoy and Dorothy Bodwell.
Arrangements were by O’Donnell Funeral Home. A memorial service was held Wednesday, with a funeral service following.
