John Adams

John A. Adams, 74, went to the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

John was the son of Charles and Ferne Adams of Naples. He was born in Portland on May 3, 1945.

He married Vicki Kelly, had a daughter Hollie, then divorced and married Karen Nee. He had two sons, Daniel and Raymond, and one daughter, Corina.

John served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1967, where he earned his GED.

He worked on an ambulance service in Lisbon Falls for several years, when the ambulance was given to the town of Lisbon. He also worked for the Town of Sanford for more than 20 years.

He returned home to Naples and took care of his mother until she passed.

John was a selectman in the Town of Naples during this time. He also was an avid knitter. He knitted hats to be given to different schools and food pantries for children who needed them.

He belonged to American Legion Post 155 in Naples.

John is survived by four children, Hollie Adams of Arundel; Daniel Adams of Garland, and his seven children: Shelly, Brianna, Alexis, Logan, Brady, Candace and Cindy; son Raymond (Shannon) of North Waterford, with three children, C.J., Avery, Brady; and a daughter, Corina Adams Doyon of East Waterboro, and two children, Aiden and Alyssa; and brothers, Fred and Linda Adams of Naples, Steve Adams and Anne Mains of Bridgton, Elizabeth and Larry Chute of Casco, Charlotte Adams and Jack Daly of Sebago; an aunt and uncle; brother-in-law, Nelson; and sisters-in-law, Barbara and Susie.

John was one of 12 children. He was predeceased by his mother and father; and six brothers: Richard, Harry, George, Michael, Billy and Austin; and his sister, Sylvia (Sally).
