Jason Farthing

RAYMOND — Jason T. Farthing, 43, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Raymond, on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015.

He was a 1990 graduate of Lake Region High School and attended Union College before transferring to the University of Colorado – Boulder, where he lived and worked until returning to Maine to join the family land surveying business in Windham as a professional land surveyor.

“Jay” was a lifelong skier, and enjoyed many outdoor pursuits, both on the water and in the mountains. The music of Widespread Panic spanned many decades of his life and he met many friends throughout that journey. He was a fan of all the New England sports teams, and would often talk of the latest topic on NPR radio and coming up with that “million dollar idea.” He was mechanically-inclined and never came across a project he couldn’t do.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Tammy, and daughter Avery, who was the light of his life as well as his surviving family members: parents, Bob and Sheri Farthing of South Casco; and his sister, Cathy Streifel, her husband Chris, and their children, Camden and Cassidy, all of Windham.

A celebration of life took place on Wednesday, Feb. 11th, at Hall Funeral Home on Quaker Ridge Road in Casco from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a fund that has been set up for Jason’s daughter, Avery Farthing, at Cumberland County Credit Union, 808 Roosevelt Trail, Windham, ME 04062.
