Inez M. Caiola

PORTLAND — Inez M. Caiola, 95, passed away on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at Seaside Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

She was born in Jay on July 28, 1916, to the late Melvin and Mildred (Mailman) Bartlett.

Inez was a talented and loving woman. She attended schools in Jay and started making pies at the age of seven and became famous for them.

She was devoted to her husband, Anthony G. Caiola, who she married on April 28, 1935.

She cooked for the Sisters of Mercy at St. Joseph’s Convent for almost 20 years and she could crochet an item just by looking at a picture.

She loved animals, especially her cats and grandchildren’s dogs.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony G. Caiola; siblings, John Bartlett, Mildred Gordon; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by son, Donald Bartlett of Connecticut; daughters, Alberta Spofford of Westbrook, Beverly Bailey of Raymond and Toni Galley of Portland; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at 10 a.m., at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery. Please visit www.jonesrichandhutchins.com for additional information and to sign Inez’s guest book.
