HIRAM — Helen Kimball Ward, 87, died on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at Bridgton Health Care Center with her family present.

Helen was born in East Hiram on Dec. 4, 1928, the youngest of seven children born to Clarence and Ada (Graffam) Kimball. Except for a short span, Helen lived her whole life in East Hiram, attending local schools and graduating from Fryeburg Academy.

For several years, Helen worked packing apples. This seasonal work meant the family could spend the summers at their camp on Hancock Pond. Later, she went to work for Yankee Masters, working there until retirement. Throughout the years, Helen was very active with the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, the PTA, the Hiram Community Church, the Church Guild, the Women's Club and serving as a trustee of the Hiram Historical Society. She and Robert enjoyed trips to Florida, motorcycle trips, bus tours and car trips.

Besides her parents and siblings, Helen was predeceased by Robert, her loving husband of 66 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Allyson Crawford of Standish; her son, Darryl Ward of East Hiram; a granddaughter, a grandson and a great-grandson; along with several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.wnyfuneralhome.com
