STANDISH — Harry E. Libby, 81, of Standish, died peacefully on June 26, 2013 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born in Portland, on July 24, 1931, the son of Maurice and Edith Cobb Libby. He was educated in Portland schools and grew up living on Lancaster Street and attended the Chestnut Street Methodist Church.

Harry worked in the construction business for over 30 years and was a member of the Local 12 Union. He worked primarily plastering in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, working several large jobs including the Maine Medical Center parking garage and the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant. He retired from construction in 1984.

He married Patricia Babbidge on Dec. 4, 1973.

Harry had enjoyed roller skating in his younger years at the Elm Street Roller Rink. He later always enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Maine outdoors and was a member of the American Legion Post #197 in Westbrook.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert Libby and a sister, Dorothy Elswick.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Babbidge) Libby of Standish; two daughters, Maureen Libby of Sumner and Jadine Keene of Fryeburg; a stepdaughter, Marlene Nikla of Brownfield; two stepsons, Stephen Watson of Indiana and Harold “Butch” Perry of Washington state; a sister, Katherine “Kitty” Doughty of Westbrook; many loving grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; stepbrothers and a stepsister.

A memorial graveside service will be on Saturday, July 13, at 11 a.m. at the Sebago Lake Village Cemetery on Route 114 in Standish. Arrangements are by Watson, Neal & York Funeral Home, www.wnyfuneralhome.com
