Grace E. (Richardson) Willard, 90

OXFORD — Grace Ellen (Richardson) Willard, 90, of Oxford, passed away peacefully at Stephens Memorial Hospital, on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was one of nine children, attended schools in Denmark, and then married Luther Stillman Willard in 1945. Together they had three children, Darrell, Linda, and Timothy.

Grace had worked in a woolen mill, a shoe factory, and was later self-employed as a housekeeper and caretaker for several local families.

After she retired, while living with her son and daughter-in-law, Grace enjoyed playing bingo, reading, doing word search puzzles, and watching her favorite TV shows. She especially enjoyed spending time with family, playing cribbage, and 5 Alive. She will be remembered for her quick wit, her strong will, and her no-nonsense approach. She was loved dearly and will be missed greatly.

She was predeceased by her parents Arthur Adelbert Richardson and Eva (Dolloff) Richardson; as well as her children Linda and Timothy; her brothers Lewis “Bud,” Mel, Everett and Wayne Richardson; and sisters June Sargent and Lorraine LaFountain.

Grace is survived by her brother Allan Richardson, brother Stanley Richardson and his wife Jan, all of Bridgton; her son Darrell and his wife Lana Willard of Oxford; granddaughters Linda Willard-Berry and her significant other William Oster of Oxford and Dawn Mills and her husband Tony of Auburn; and great-grandchildren Matthew Timothy Willard and family of Oxford, Jared Timothy Archambault and family of Nevada, Brittany Oster and family of Oxford, and Jasinda Betancourth and family of Auburn.

Grace was the matriarch of five generations, and blessed to be able to enjoy six great-great-grandchildren. Madelyn, Joshua, Louis, Hadley, Liam, and Madison.

In her final hours, Grace looked around the hospital room at all of her family gathered together to honor her, and said, “I guess I raised a good family!”

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital for their thoughtfulness, kindness and compassion in taking care of Grace.

Grace’s wishes of no funeral will be honored. Graveside services will be held this spring, date TBD.
