Gloria P. Chute

CASCO — Gloria Peace Day Chute passed away peacefully at Ledgewood Manor in Windham on Thursday, April 12, 2012.

Gloria was born in Worcester, Mass., in 1930, the daughter of Lillian Jones Day and Sherwin Maxwell Day Sr. She moved to Casco as a little girl. Gloria followed her husband on many adventures, but returned to Casco in 1977.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Merton Chute of Casco; six children; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; her brother, S. Maxwell Day of Indianapolis; many cousins; nieces and nephews.

Gloria Chute is best known locally as the founder/owner, along with her husband Edward, of Chute’s Country Tea Room of Casco and Chute’s Family Restaurant in Windham before her retirement in the early 90s. She is also remembered by many for her personal investment in their lives in prayer and in practical caring.

There will be a celebration of life for Gloria on May 19 at the Naples Gymnasium on the Village Green in Naples at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Casco.
