Gary C. Ingraham

SWEDEN — Gary C. Ingraham, 63, loving son of Teresa M. Ingraham and the late Henry W. Ingraham, died of cancer on Aug. 20, 2012 in Raymond, with his mother and brother, Jeffrey, by his side. Gary was born on April 21, 1949 in Spokane, Washington. His early childhood was spent in many parts of the United States and overseas, while his father was serving in the USAF. He graduated from Bridgton High School in 1968, immediately joining the U.S. Marines. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan E. Hewson, before leaving for a tour of duty in Vietnam.
After the war, he returned to Bridgton, eventually buying property in Sweden, Maine and starting construction on a log home, taking a number of years, using logs from the property and doing all the labor by himself. His home was his pride and joy and he kept adding to it and making changes through the years. He loved to garden, always having a large garden, berries and fruit trees. He also cut his own wood, worked in his workshop and loved his motorcycle, taking long rides by himself or with June, especially on the secondary roads.
Gary is survived by his mother of Raymond; his daughter, Sarah Lee Ingraham-Antonio of Bridgton; two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Nora, both of Bridgton; his brothers, Thomas and wife, Anne of El Grenada, Calif., Jeffrey of Raymond, Kevin and his wife, Kim of Waterford, Mich.; three nieces and four nephews; and his companion of many years, June F. Haley.
Visiting hours will be held from 4–6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside memorial service with military honors at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Stroudwater St., Westbrook.
