Future business leaders compete, capture top prizes

TOP FINISHERS at the 2014 Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference from Lake Region Vocational Center were: (left to right) Alex Pelletier of Sacopee Valley placed second in Microsoft Office Word; Tyler Wright of Lake Region placed first in Cyber Security and second in Computer Problem Solving; Searrah Crockett of Lake Region placed first in Job Interview Skills; and Samantha Woodbrey of Sacopee Valley placed third in Business Math Skills and third in Job Interview Skills.

Lake Region Vocational Center’s business programs recently participated in the 2014 Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference held at the Double Tree Hotel in South Portland.

Students competed in events testing their business knowledge and skills. Competitive events fall into three categories: individual, team, and chapter. Individual and team events focus on skills useful in leadership and career development; chapter events recognize overall achievement and performance in chapter management and growth.

First place state winners are eligible to compete for national awards at the National Leadership Conference held in Nashville, Tenn. this summer.
