Florence E. (Sheridan) Strum, 91

BREWSTER, MASS.  — Florence “Sherry” Elizabeth (Sheridan) Strum, 91, of Brewster, passed away peacefully on Sept. 22, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 69 years, Howard P. Strum.  She was the daughter of the late George and Harriette (Henderson) Sheridan.

Sherry was born in Newton, Mass. and moved to Waltham, Mass., where she and her family resided for 35 years. She attended Waltham High School, and then later graduated from Symms-Arlington School of Nursing. She loved working in the neonatal nursery as a registered nurse for 29 years at the Waltham Hospital. Upon retiring she volunteered for 13 years with the Caring Cupboard of the Brewster Baptist Church where she was the member. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Sherry was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She approached shopping as a sport and was at the top of her game.

Besides being survived by the love of her life, Howard, she leaves behind a daughter, Sharon Libbey and her husband Will of Bridgton, Maine; a son Mark Strum and his wife Betsey of Holliston, Mass.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews. She was the sister to Dede Ames, Mickey Frank and George Sheridan.

Burial will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28th in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29th at the Brewster Baptist Church, Route 6A, Brewster, Mass.
