Everett Wakefield

HARRISON — Everett Albert Wakefield, 70, died unexpectedly at his home in Harrison on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014.

He was born July 10, 1944, to Arthur G., Sr., and Elizabeth Adams Wakefield of Harrison.

For many years, until its closing, Everett worked alongside his family in the Wakefield & Sons lumber mill on Deertrees Road in Harrison. He was a man of few words and quiet strength, and though he seemed serious, he did enjoy a good laugh! He was hardworking, even until the time of his death.

Everett was an active member of the Lions Club and the Western Maine Fish & Game. He loved collecting guns and had participated in shooting competitions, and he also had taught gun safety classes. He enjoyed the outdoors and doing things with his constant companion, his dog Sadie.

Everett was originally part-owner of Reliable Rubbish servicing the Harrison and Bridgton areas. After his retirement, he continued to work part-time for the new owners. He also enjoyed spending time in Georgia visiting with his sister and her family. Everett also hosted the Wakefield family reunion at his home.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Bernard Wakefield and Rodney Wakefield, all of Harrison.

Everett is survived by a sister, Ann Smith of Canton, Ga.; a brother, Arthur G. Wakefield Jr., and his wife Linda of South Paris; a brother, Keith E. Wakefield and his wife Terri of Norway; sister-in-law Linda Wakefield Twitchell of Harrison, and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 26, at the Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8 Elm Street, Bridgton. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Harrison Village Cemetery with Military Honors.
