DENMARK — Eugene M. Gillis, 74, of Denmark passed away at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a short illness.

Eugene was born in Brockton, Mass. and attended Brockton schools. He served in the Army and National Guard. He retired from Shaw’s Supermarket after many years.

He and his wife of 48 years, Eveleth, enjoyed attending NASCAR races.

He is survived by his wife, Eveleth M. Gillis; his sons, Derek W. Gillis and David W. Gillis; his daughters, Kimberlea J. Foster, Kathryn I. Burrage and Karen M. Santuccio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings Ernest M. Gillis, Edward M. Gillis, Erna M. Gillis and Elena M. Gillis.

He is predeceased by his parents, Ernest M. Gillis and Katherine M. (Walker) Gillis; and siblings Edward M. Gillis and Everett M. Gillis.
