Ellen E. Robinson, 85

RAYMOND — Ellen Elizabeth Robinson, 85, passed away on Jan. 18, 2018, at her winter home in Palmetto, Fla. after a short illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Ellen was born in Bath, S.C., on Feb.13, 1932, a daughter of the late Harvey T. and Bertha (Moore) Logan. She grew up on Sullivan’s Island, S.C., and moved to Maine in 1945, where she attended and graduated from Deering High School. She married her high school sweetheart in 1951, had two children and moved to Westbrook. As well as being a wife and mother, she ran a daycare for many years and held various jobs at Zayre, Woolworths, Bradlees and York Steak House.

Ellen was a Life Member of the General Grand Chapter of the Eastern Star, Cornerstone Chapter 193. In 2009, she became the head of the Palmetto, Fla. Chapter of “The Giving Doll Project.” She and her volunteers handmade and donated over 1,900 dolls to hospitals, fire and police departments, children’s homes and shelters in Maine and Florida, and to missionaries from Haiti and Guatemala.

She is predeceased by her younger sister, Mary Joyce Erikson; and stepfather, Everett Ridlon.

Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Edmund; her daughter Janet of Cayce, S.C.; son David of Gorham; a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren; as well as two nieces and a nephew.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, at 2 p.m., at Pine Grove Cemetery in Falmouth. The service will be conducted through Chad E. Poitras Funeral Service in Buxton. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com
