Edward A. Rivet Sr.

Edward Rivet Sr.

LEWISTON — Edward A. Rivet Sr., 84, of Lewiston passed away peacefully after a short illness Tuesday morning, Feb. 6, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 23, 1939, the son of Albert and Marion Rivet.

He graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1958.

He married his high school sweetheart Brenda Milasauskis on Aug. 20, 1960. They raised three sons, Wayne, David and Ed- ward Jr.

Edward worked at R.I. Mitchell and Hamilton & Son in Auburn as an office staff member, and then as a credit manager at Pioneer Plastics in Auburn, retiring after 35 years there.

He served on a national credit union board, the Rainbow Credit Union board, and the Sarah Frye Home Board of Directors.

Edward was very active in his family’s lives. When the boys were younger, he served on the St. Joseph School PTA and helped out with the children’s sports teams. Although he did not participate in organized sports, he was his boys’ biggest fan, attending football games in the rain, and enduring the chill of early morning hockey practices. He impressed upon his sons the importance of hard work, character and good moral values, and keeping family close to one’s heart. He could be serious, but also had a “funny side” that emerged more and more as he gracefully and without complaint battled his illness. He was very proud of the boys’ achievements, as well as those of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Over their six decades of marriage, Edward and Brenda enjoyed cruises and several trips to “the islands,” where they took many long walks along the beaches and engaged in conversations with new friends made along the way. They cherished times spent with their close group of longtime friends. Edward enjoyed cars and attending Maine State Music Theatre productions in Brunswick.

Edward and Brenda were the hub of family life, be it hosting Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas Eve get-togethers, to enjoying time at their camp at Bear Pond in Turner. Edward lived a good life, one that taught his family many important lessons they will hold onto and pass along.

Edward is survived by his wife, Brenda; his sons Wayne and his wife Susan of Bridgton, David and his wife Maria of Lewiston, and Edward Jr. and his wife Renee of Lewiston; his grandchildren, Melissa, Kimberly, Matthew, Joshua, Nathan, Alex, Michael, Natalie and Brady; several great-grandchildren; and his niece and nephew, Debbie and Jeff.

He is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Marion; his sister, Shirley; and a grandson, Stephen.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lewiston, followed by a Celebration of Life.

Arrangements by Albert & Burpee Funeral Home, Lewiston.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward’s memory can be made to Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240 (www.androscoggin.org).
