SOUTHINGTON, CONN. — Edna Florence (Mattson) Seilonen, 97, formerly of Conn., and Fla., passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Hartford Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Charles Seilonen for 56 years.

Edna was born May 16, 1917, in Harrison, Maine, to the late John and Jennie (Kontio) Mattson. She was a former member of the First Lutheran Church in Southington for nearly 25 years.

Edna is survived by her sister, Viola Payson of Machias, Maine; daughters and their husbands, Sandra and James Anderson of Southington, Conn., and Viola and George Taylor of Marion, Mass. She is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses: Deborah (Joseph) Hukill of Burlington, Conn., Ingrid Briggs of Las Vegas, Nev., Alison (Skip) Urmson of Santa Rosa, Calif., Andrew (Colleen Taylor) of Chico, Calif., and Jeffrey Taylor of N. Dartmouth, Mass. Her five great-grandchildren: Abby and Katrina Briggs, Rowan Urmson, Riley and Lucas Taylor and Thomas Taylor. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Aarne, John and George and David Mattson. Her longevity may be attributed to genes, environment, her faith in God and cheerful outlook on life.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the First Lutheran Church, 232 Bristol St., Southington, Conn. Burial will be held in the summer at the Finnish Lutheran Cemetery in Harrison, Maine. Plantsville Funeral Home of Plantsville, Conn., has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
