Edmund G. Hamlin, 76

BROWNFIELD — Edmund G. Hamlin, 76, of Brownfield passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016.

He graduated from Portland High School in 1959 and served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1964, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War setting up communications.

He married Michelle A. Sparre on June 27, 1970, and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage. Edmund had been a commercial deliveryman for Hood’s Dairy Products, a distributor of Wynn’s Automotive Additives, service manager at Sebago Lake Auto and assistant service manager at Rowe Ford in Westbrook.

He enjoyed fishing, canoeing, boating, swimming, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and bird feeding and watching. He was a fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He loved watching his grandchildren play football, soccer, little league baseball, wrestling and field hockey.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle (Sparre) Hamlin of Brownfield; his children Jayme Smith of Barrington, N.H., Jennifer Plessinger of Brownfield and James E. of San Francisco, Calif.; six grandchildren; his siblings Lorraine H. Brinkert, Peter Hamlin, Raymond Hamlin and R. Louie Hamlin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. at Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Fryeburg. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren Street, Fryeburg. Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.woodfuneralhome.org
