Dorothea Blanchard

SOUTH PORTLAND — Dorothea M. (Cash) Blanchard, 90, a lifelong resident of South Portland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Maine Medical Center. She was surrounded by her family.

She was born and raised in South Portland, the daughter of Lawrence and Eleanor (Wallace) Cash.

Dorothea had a long career in the hospitality business before her retirement at 78. She enjoyed Willard Beach, bingo and attending church dinners with her many friends. She was a collector of frog and lighthouse ornaments, as well as an avid Red Sox fan. She loved sleepovers with her grandchildren and special trips to the Dairy Queen.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Blanchard; and her son, Robert L. Blanchard.

She is survived by three sons, Maurice Blanchard of Raymond, Richard Blanchard of Westbrook and Michael Blanchard of Florida; her eight loving grandchildren; her sister and best friend, Renee DePrez of South Portland, and sister Joyce Brackett of Mexico.

A private graveside service will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, followed by a celebration of life beginning at 10 a.m. at First Parish Church, 425 Congress Street, Portland. Online condolences can be expressed at: blaisandhayfuneralhome.com
