Doris I. Fitzgerald

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— Doris I. Fitzgerald, 82, passed away in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Sept. 27, 2010, after being diagnosed with lung cancer one month ago.

She was the daughter of Lawrence H. and Louise J. Hutchinson. She attended Windham schools, graduating from Windham High School. After graduation, she worked for Dunn & Bradstreet in Portland.

Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald owned and operated Fitzgerald’s Auto Body Shop in Windham for 19 years before moving to Florida 33 years ago. In Florida working side by side, they purchased homes to be refurbished, painted, remodeled that were then sold or rented.

She belonged to the Pine Bay Community Club where she participated in pancake breakfasts, yard sales, club suppers, and bingo games. She had also worked in St. Petersburg at Orange Blossom Catering, Pinellas School lunch program, and Publix Bakery.

Mrs. Fitzgerald is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ralph H. Fitzgerald of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sisters, Ada L. Ridlon of Raymond, Pearl E. Garnett of Westbrook and Edna E. Smith of Eustis; several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life was held on Oct. 2, 2010, at the Pine Bay Community Club in St. Petersburg, Fla.
