Donald W. Wright, 86

LEWISTON — Donald Wendell Wright, 86, died with his family at his side Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born June 18, 1931 in Easthampton, Mass., the son of Wendell Phillips Wright and Linda Lillie Katzschmann. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Western New England College. He served in the 40th Infantry Division with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed in the construction industry till his retirement from the IBEW #7 in Springfield, Mass. His work allowed him to specialize in the construction of nuclear power stations, working on among others Susquahanna in Pa., Calvert Cliffs in Md., and Seabrook in N.H. In his spare time, first with his father then with his children, he constructed many homes in Easthampton, Mass., Bridgton and Peaks Island.

After retiring to the Bridgton area, he volunteered at the Bridgton Hospital Guild Coffee shop, Twitchell’s Café, as well as providing tax preparation assistance at the Bridgton Community Center. He was a member of the Oriental Masonic Lodge #13.

He leaves two children, Joseph Donald Wright and his partner Diane Ricchiotti of Peaks Island, and Nancy Lynn Wright of Bridgton; two grandsons, Timothy Joseph and Zachary Michael Flynn; two sisters, Judith Lifka of Jacksonville, Fla., and Marilyn Wright of Salem, Mass.; along with one niece and four nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Anne Garde Wright.

Funeral services will be private. Don wanted no memorial service but would welcome anyone who wishes to join his family on Saturday morning, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. at McDonald’s in Bridgton for one last coffee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
