Donald Libby Jr.

BROWNFIELD — Donald R. Libby Jr., 87, of Brownfield, died on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Bridgton Hospital.

He was born April 18, 1931, in Old Orchard Beach, the son of Donald and Harriet (Sands) Libby, and was educated in the local school system.

Donald retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of honorable and faithful service protecting his country during the Korean War and Vietnam conflict.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring.

Donald’s joy in life was spending time with family, gardening, fishing, hunting and canning. He continued his support of the military after retiring, serving as State Commander of the VFW.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Teresa McCutcheon; and his son, Bruce Boisjoly.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Adams) Libby; sons: Phil Boisjoly, Fred Libby, Frank Libby, Dannie Ross, Mark Ross, David Ross, Robert Boisjoly; daughter, Cathy Callen; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford. A celebration of life will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, at Hope Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
