Donald E. Dyer Sr., 83

LIMERICK — Donald Edwin Dyer Sr., 83, of Limerick, passed away at “The Farm” on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017.

He was born in Portland on Jan. 1, 1934, the son of Horace and Thelma (McMillan) Dyer. Donald was a 1953 graduate of Falmouth High School.

He worked for Charles Chesley Construction, and Ellis Snodgrass Construction, and ran a hydraulic repair business. The family moved to Limerick, where he raised laying hens for many years and later worked for FR Carroll Construction.

Donald enjoyed woodworking, steel fabrication, splitting and cutting wood, and playing the trumpet.

Donald was a member and Past Master of the Falmouth Grange #25.

He was predeceased by his wife Barbara, who passed away in 2011; and two sisters, Dot and Ruthie.

Survivors include four sons, Ronald Edwin Dyer of Winthrop, Larry James Dyer of Newfield, Donald Edwin Dyer II of Casco and Harry James Dyer of West Newfield; a sister, Elizabeth A. Lawrence of Rockhill, S.C.; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home and Cremation, 13 Portland Road, Buxton, (Bar Mills), on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017. A 3 p.m. funeral service followed at the funeral home. Burial will be at Brooklawn Memorial Park at a later date, where he will be laid next to his wife.
