Daniel A. Maxfield

Dan Maxfield

HARRISON — Beloved father, son, brother, and friend. Daniel Albion Maxfield, 43, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He was deeply loved and raised by mother Lynne (Searles) Cole and stepfather Anthony along with father Delmore A. Maxfield Jr., and stepmother Cathleen all of Harrison.

Dan was born in Bridgton, on February 28, 1980. He grew up in Harrison, and graduated, a proud Viking (#74 forever), from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in 1998. He thrived at school, especially on the gridiron playing football proud- ly sporting the green and gold. Dan’s teammates and close friends were regular fixtures at his childhood home and often in the passenger seat of his favorite ride, “Bumpin.”

Dan attended Plymouth State College, however, his time at university was cut short following a motorcycle accident in June 1999. The single event changed the trajectory of his life, but Dan never stopped striving to make a difference or to learn. He was quick-witted, possessed a clever mind, and was full of charm. Such character traits served him well as he endured countless medical setbacks.

Dan enjoyed the outdoors — from snowmobiling to four- wheeling to boating to playing bocce, and he wanted to share that joy with anyone that he could, especially his beloved children. Dan had a larger than life personality — to receive a wry smile or notable bear hug from him was to know the depths of his affection. He was fiercely loyal and would do whatever he could to make the days brighter for those with whom he shared them. He loved his family, especially his children. Dan cherished spending time with his kiddos — counting down to the ball drop each New Year’s Eve, grilling up Italian sausages in the food booth at Harrison Old Home Days, sharing countless hours playing video games and just joking around with them.

Dan is survived by daughters Abbigail Maxfield of Orono, and Isabelle Maxfield of Acton, son Deacon Maxfield of Acton, and stepson Traeton Baker of Acton. His sister Debra Maxfield of Harrison, and brother Donovan (Barbara) Maxfield of Durham, stepbrothers Josh (Kara) Bradbury of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and Justin (Shanon) Bradbury of New York City, N.Y.

He is predeceased by paternal grandparents, Delmore and Barbara Maxfield and his maternal grandparents, Clifton and Dorothy Searles.

He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
