Clarence Hunt

CASCO — Clarence Ralph Hunt, 88, went home to heaven and to be reunited with his wife on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at the Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Norway.

He was born on Aug. 16, 1925 in Limington, the son of Charles L. and Lena R. Hunt. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II and will long be remembered for his faithful commitment and service to the American Legion Post 155 as one of their original charter members. He also served his community for many years as a volunteer fireman.

Clarence worked very hard to provide for his family as a master bricklayer and stonemason and has left a legacy of his beautiful fireplaces throughout southern Maine. As a faithful member of the Casco Alliance Church, Clarence was a blessing to many with his warm smile and willingness to serve. He will be fondly remembered for his love of gardening and involving his children and grandchildren in planting, caring for, and enjoying the harvest. In recent years, he has shared his love of hymns with all who came to visit.

He is survived by his sister, Lorraine Morton of Naples; his children, Cherie Range of Pine Knoll Shores, N.C., Stephen Hunt of Naples, Brenda Smith of St. Petersburg, Fla., Judy Hunt of Windham, Bruce Hunt of Naples, Cathy Strout of Harrington, Wade Hunt of Casco, Donna Shannon of Osteen, Fla., Lori Jordan of Winter Springs, Fla. and Kim Aguilar of Windham; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Hunt of Casco; and two brothers, Ralph Hunt of Bridgton and David Hunt of Bristol, N.H.

Visiting hours will be held at Hall Funeral Home in Casco on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Casco Alliance Church on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 1 p.m., with a time of fellowship and refreshment immediately following at the American Legion Hall in Naples. There will be a military burial in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Clarence’s memory to American Legion Post 155, 26 Casco Road, Naples, ME 04055 or Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation, 29 Marion Ave., Norway, ME 04268.
