Audrey Woodbrey

STANDISH — Audrey P. (Kimball) Woodbrey, 87, of Standish, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at the Gorham House in Gorham.

Born on Jan. 10, 1930 in Windham, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth B. and Mildred (Timmons) Kimball, and attended local schools there.

Audrey graduated from Windham High School in the Class of 1948, where she was awarded the American Legion and the DAR (Daughters of American Revolution) awards.

She worked at the former L.C. Andrew Lumber Company in South Windham, as secretary to the credit manager.

In 1950, she married Herbert H. Woodbrey of Standish, and together they raised two daughters and two sons. After the children were grown, Audrey worked in a fabric shop, and later as a secretary at the Edna Libby School in SAD 6.

Always giving of her time to the community, Audrey volunteered at the Maine Medical Center, The Gorham House, Meals on Wheels, and the Jones Museum in Sebago.

She was a member of the Standish Historical Society, a member and officer of the former Center Memorial Clinic Auxiliary, Windham Alumni Association and the Windham Historical Society.

Audrey treasured family functions and one of her favorites was attending the grandchildren's many activities. During this past year, she enjoyed reading to her great-grandchildren and talking with them on the telephone. Her other pleasures included sewing, needlework, music and dancing.

She was predeceased by a brother, Allan Kimball; and sister, Patricia Riley.

Audrey is survived by her husband of 67 years; two daughters, Carol Sargent of Standish and Martha Hinman of Bend, Oregon; two sons, Bradley of Raymond and Mitchel, also of Raymond; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She also is survived by a brother, Bernard Kimball, of Gorham; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Visiting hours were held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at the Sebago Lake Congregational Church, 410 Northeast Road (Route 35), Standish, where a reception followed. Burial will take place in the spring at Smith Cemetery, Windham.
