Audrey Emerson

CORNISH — Audrey Emerson, 87, peacefully left us, surrounded by her daughters at her home on Friday, April 5, 2013, to be with her loving husband and sons.

She was born on Aug. 11, 1925, in Bridgton, the daughter of Luther and Clara Gray. After the passing of her parents she lived with George and Verna Gray Smith and was a 1943 graduate of Bridgton High School.

She married Milton Emerson in Bridgton on March 3, 1945. The couple started their family in Bridgton and in 1958 moved to Cornish, where they raised their five children. After her children were grown Audrey went to work for Co-Hi Apple Orchards, packing apples until her retirement.

She enjoyed, sewing, knitting, crocheting, wallpapering, painting and redecorating — however, her favorite pastime was braiding beautiful rugs that many people have enjoyed.

Audrey was very proud to tell everyone about her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Audrey was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Mickey; sons Gregory C. Emerson and Milton (Mick) E. Emerson Jr.; and a great-grandson, Matthew Napolitano. She is survived by many who will miss her greatly including her three daughters, Susan Wadsworth and her husband Lee Alan of Parsonsfield, Melody Britt and her husband Gary of Cornish, Kathleen (Kate) Benson and her husband Bob of Cornish and two daughters-in-law, Roberta Emerson of Steep Falls and Teresa Emerson of Portland; 11 grandchildren:  Gregory Emerson Jr., Melissa Taylor, Lori Napolitano, James Wadsworth, Sarah Earley, Rebekah MacDonald, Anthony Emerson, Elizabeth Emerson, Jessica Benson, Jillian Benson, Joshua Benson; and 11 great-grandchildren: Brody and Emma Taylor, Christian and Olivia Napolitano,  Ryan and Evan Wadsworth, Emily and Jacob Earley, Lillian and Callahan MacDonald, and Josephine Babb.

At her request a family graveside service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.wnyfuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that those who wish to do so may make a contribution to their favorite charity.
