Arnold E. Davis

LOVELL — Arnold Ellsworth Davis, 72, of Lovell, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.

Arnold began his adult life by joining the Navy in 1962 at age 17, serving proudly and being honorably discharged in 1968. His civilian career choices varied but he had become a very distinguished supervisor in the field of heavy construction, working for two large companies the last twenty years before he retired in 2013.

Arnold loved fishing, hiking, hunting, and the great outdoors. He loved car racing, football, snowmobiles. He appreciated the beauty of the mountains and the great outdoors and spent as much time as possible outside. He loved wildlife, farm animals, and feeding the birds. He loved gardening, both vegetables and flowers. He loved reading, especially U.S. history and enjoyed traveling throughout the country to visit historical sites. He was president of The Davis Meeting House and Cemetery and was a very active amateur genealogist.

He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Janice (Shaw) Davis. Arnold was the beloved father of daughter Lynne Davis Gilmore; son Shane Irving Davis; and stepfather of Heidi Louise Parmenter. Arnold was adored by his grandchildren, Jordan Flanagan, Jenna Flanagan, Gayle Gilmore, and Beau DeFelice; as well as two great-grandsons, Connor Garrison and Nathan Soos.

Arnold was predeceased by his mother, Julia Sanborn Davis, and father, Irving Henry Davis; his two brothers, Thomas Davis and Laurence Davis; and sister, Myrtle Quint. He leaves behind sisters, Linda Lewis, Frances Emery, and Patricia Cummings; as well as two brothers, Roger Davis and David Davis.
