BUXTON — Elizabeth E. “Liz” Dudley, 89, of Buxton and formerly of Parsonsfield, passed on Aug. 12, 2011, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough following a short illness.

She was born on June 19, 1922, in Harrison, to Charles and Carrie Rollins Jordan. At about five years old, her family moved from Harrison to Porter.

She married Eugene W. Dudley of Parsonsfield in 1941.

When her children were young, she did not work outside the home. As they grew older, she was the school cook providing the “hot lunch” program. Following that, she worked at Goodwin’s Grocery Store in Kezar Falls. She then became the Town Clerk and Tax Collector in Parsonsfield for many years. At the end of her career, she was voted in as a selectman, serving Parsonsfield again until 1990.

Liz enjoyed sewing, quilting and knitting. Her family enjoyed her wonderful cooking and baking as well as her “famous iced tea.”
All of her siblings predeceased her; as well as her husband of 67 years who died in 2008.

She is survived by her son, William Dudley, with whom she lived for 15 years in Buxton; her son, Arthur Dudley of Standish; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m., at the Watson, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple Street, Cornish. Burial will be private in Parsonsfield.
