WESTBROOK — Sherry L. Garris, 59, of Westbrook, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016.

She was born March 13, 1957, in Portland, to Clifford and Olive Dennison of Standish.

Sherry attended local schools and graduated from Bonny Eagle High School, Class of 1975. She served in the Army as a cook for three years, where she met her husband of 24 years, Chuck Garris. Sherry traveled extensively as a career wife while raising their only son, David.

Sherry returned to Maine to help care for her mother, Olive, in her final years, during which time she worked at Maine Standards Company, employed as a manufacturing operations technician.

Sherry loved sharing her life with her family and many friends, and enjoyed cooking, dancing, camping, movies, traveling and sightseeing. Sherry loved her kittens, BamBam and Pebbles.

She will be remembered for her generous and outgoing personality, and her love of life.

Sherry was predeceased by her mother, Olive.

She is survived by her son, David Garris of Blue Spring, Mo.; her father, Clifford Dennison of Westbrook; and siblings, her twin, Patrick Dennison of West Baldwin, Michael Dennison of Hollis, Doreen Pinkham of Lisbon and Bonnie LaPointe of Sebago.

A funeral service was held at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 76 State Street, Gorham, Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at 1 p.m. Burial followed at the Steep Falls Cemetery, Route 113, Steep Falls. A Celebration of Life followed after the burial at the Steep Falls Fire Barn, 870 Boundary Road, Steep Falls.
