Richard E. Denis, 85

FALMOUTH — Richard (Dick) Eugene Denis, 85, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at a Falmouth care facility. He was born on Feb. 14, 1931, in Salem, Mass., the son of the late Louis and Maria (Bouffard) Denis.

Richard graduated from Salem High School, earned an engineering degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology, and served as a Marine. He worked as a design engineer at IBM, Computervision and as a consultant. He was a long-standing member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of Palmer’s Cove Yacht Club in Salem.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Jacqueline Constance Denis (Giguere), also of Salem.

Surviving are his four children, Scott Denis of Murietta, Calif., Vicki Wells of Middlebury, Vt., Cindy Doherty of Raymond and Debbie Padula of Hanover, Mass.; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Richard will be remembered for his Christmas and Super Bowl parties, days on the boat, red wine, his witty sense of humor, and for being a constant and supportive presence in the lives of his children, family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday, May 21 at the American Legion Post #155 on Route 11 in Naples from 1 to 4 p.m.; and on Saturday, May 28 at the Vittori Rocci Post at 143 Brimball Avenue, Beverly, Mass.
